Is Gettysburg Pike Animal Clinic accepting new patients?

Yes, we are currently welcoming new clients and their furry family members. We encourage first-time visitors to bring any previous veterinary records if available. Please note, we are booking 2-3 months out for new patients. During your pet’s first visit, we’ll conduct a thorough wellness exam and discuss their health history, vaccination status, diet, and lifestyle. Our goal is to build a lifelong partnership with you to keep your pet healthy and happy.

What are your hours of operation, and are you open on weekends?

Our clinic is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We are closed on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as on major holidays. For your convenience, we recommend scheduling appointments in advance, though we will always do our best to accommodate same-day sick visits when needed.

Do you offer pet dental care, cleanings, and oral exams?

Yes, we offer complete veterinary dental services to help prevent and treat oral health issues in pets. Our dental care includes thorough oral exams, professional cleanings under anesthesia, digital dental X-rays, and tooth extractions if needed. Dental disease can lead to serious health complications, so regular dental check-ups are an important part of your pet’s wellness plan.

Which types of pets do you treat at Gettysburg Pike Animal Clinic?

Our veterinary services are focused on companion animals, specifically dogs and cats, but we will also see small pocket pets. We provide care for all life stages, from puppies and kittens to senior pets. We do not currently treat exotic animals, reptiles, birds, or livestock.

What vaccinations are recommended for my dog or cat?

We offer a full range of vaccinations tailored to your pet’s lifestyle, environment, and age. For dogs, core vaccines include rabies, distemper, parvovirus, and adenovirus. Additional vaccines may include leptospirosis, Bordetella (kennel cough), Lyme disease, and canine influenza. For cats, core vaccines include rabies, feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia (FVRCP). We also offer the feline leukemia virus (FeLV) vaccine for at-risk cats. During your visit, we’ll help create a personalized vaccine schedule.

Do you offer spay and neuter services?

Yes, Gettysburg Pike Animal Clinic provides safe, routine spay and neuter surgeries for both cats and dogs. These procedures help prevent unwanted litters, reduce the risk of certain cancers and infections, and may improve behavior in some pets. Our team will guide you on the best age to schedule surgery and provide detailed pre- and post-operative care instructions.

Do you offer care for senior pets and help manage chronic health conditions?

Absolutely. We specialize in senior pet wellness and chronic disease management. As pets age, they may develop conditions such as arthritis, kidney disease, diabetes, or thyroid disorders. We offer regular screenings, pain management, medication, and nutritional counseling to support your senior pet’s comfort and quality of life. Early detection is key, so we recommend more frequent check-ups for aging pets.

Do you offer diagnostic testing and in-house lab services?

Yes, our clinic is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, including in-house bloodwork, urinalysis, fecal exams, digital X-rays, and more. Having in-clinic diagnostic capabilities allows us to provide faster results and begin treatment sooner—especially in urgent situations.

Can I refill my pet’s medications or food through Gettysburg Pike Animal Clinic?

Yes, prescription medications and pet food can be refilled by calling our clinic or using our online pharmacy through PetDesk. Through our online store, you can conveniently order flea and tick preventives, heartworm medication, therapeutic diets, and more for pickup at our clinic. This is a safe and reliable way to ensure your pet gets exactly what they need, when they need it.

Do you do ear cropping and tail dockings or food through Gettysburg Pike Animal Clinic?

No, we do not provide those services at our clinic.

Do you provide emergency services?

While we do not provide emergency care, we will provide urgent care services for established patients. Urgent care situations may include issues such as minor injuries, sudden illness, or discomfort that may not be life-threatening but require prompt attention to alleviate distress. In an emergency, which involves severe trauma, acute illness, or life-threatening conditions, we always recommend seeking immediate attention from a 24-hour emergency veterinary facility.
